Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Hilirisasi IPTEKS (JHI) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. To ensure the originality and authenticity of all published works, every submitted manuscript is screened for plagiarism before it enters the peer-review process.
1. Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts submitted to JHI are checked using Turnitin plagiarism detection software. The similarity report generated by Turnitin is used by the editorial team to evaluate the originality of the content.
-
A maximum similarity index of 20% (excluding references and bibliography) is permitted.
-
Manuscripts with a similarity index greater than 20% will be automatically rejected without further review.
-
Authors may be invited to revise the manuscript if the similarity percentage is slightly below the threshold but includes improper citation or extensive paraphrasing.
2. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is considered a serious ethical violation and includes, but is not limited to:
-
Direct plagiarism – copying text verbatim from another source without proper citation.
-
Mosaic plagiarism – borrowing ideas, phrases, or data without adequate acknowledgment.
-
Self-plagiarism – reusing significant portions of one’s previously published work without disclosure or permission.
-
Improper citation – failing to attribute sources accurately or intentionally obscuring the origin of information.
3. Editorial Actions
If plagiarism is detected at any stage of the publication process, the following actions may be taken:
-
Before publication: The manuscript will be rejected immediately and the author will be notified.
-
After publication: If plagiarism is discovered post-publication, the article will be retracted in accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines, and the author’s institution may be informed of the violation.
4. Author Responsibility
Authors bear full responsibility for the originality of their work. Submission of a manuscript implies that:
-
The content is original and has not been published elsewhere.
-
Proper credit is given to all sources, collaborators, and previous works.
-
Authors agree to the plagiarism screening process conducted by JHI.
